Speaking of Arcade Fire, my girlfriend just had tickets to their Madison Square Garden show dropped in her lap. “Do you want to go?” “Sure, why not?”

And then I come to find out today that that show is going to be directed by Terry  Gilliam for a live stream on YouTube. So look for me on the 5th, I guess…I’ll wave a big 319 banner if they let me in The Garden with it.

What have you guys been reading lately? I went ahead and ordered a grip of books to see me through the summer months, what with all the time I’ll be spending on the train and on the beach (yeah, there are surprisingly decent beach alternatives to the overcrowded, overheated Coney Island – with surfable waves, even, but that’s an issue for another day).

I just finished The Stand and can’t believe I’ve denied myself the pleasure of a Stephen King book for this long. I guess good writing doesn’t have to be difficult and unpleasant to read after all. I’ll be working on Lush Life next – I loved Clockers, mainly because Richard Price really gets how people talk.  I think it’s because he’s always listening. I love a writer who listens. You can always tell.

An ungodly amount of money just approved by congress to be spent on 2 wars with no end in sight (it is said that now almost $0.53 of ever dollar that comes out of your paycheck now going towards military spending)

An unprecidented amount of civilian deaths have occured and will continue to occure (estimated 800,000 civilian non combatants), espically since Mr. Obama has expanded our Predator Drone attacks, espically in Pakistan.

An almost certain 3rd conflict we will be entering with Iran for our fear of their “Nuclear Capabilities”. (just like Iraq had WMDs)

Complete ecologial and envirnmental destruction in the Gulf with an “oil gusher” as they say, yet again with no end in sight. (I am reminded of the Katrina disaster with complete and utter government negligance in attempting to clean or contain anything. BP may be berated in public, but nothing is really being done to ensure this will not happen again or that they are taking true and full responsiblity. Look up Corexit to see how they are trying to hide the problem with toxic chemicals. Obama seems almost silent on the issue. Maybe it is because he received more campaign funds than any other 2008 cantidate from the oil and gas industry. He is in their pocket.)

A further expansion on the patriot act and a complete attack on individual rights.

Caught in too many conflicts overseas, Mr. Obama does not seem concerned that we have been basically invaded by Mexico. (I am not talking immigration but by actual militants who have taken american lives including law enforcement officials.) Check it out:

I really don’t see any difference between Obama and Bush, and I never did. I guess except one presents themself better in public.

So are you still happy with our president? You all can probably figure out where I stand. You may be stoked on Healthcare (I am not), but truly are you still happy with the man who promised so much.

Also know that I think politics are very important, that is way I post on them from time to time. Know that I don’t think less of anyone because of their response, but I do like to debate. I think it important for everyone to ask critical questions of themselves and of others as to what they believe. I heard it was important for growth or something like that haha
