I can’t breathe.

In the Facebook feed this afternoon, from our old friend Nick Anderson — a promo video he created for an organization called Come, Let’s Dance. How good is this? And is that Giants I hear providing the perfect soundtrack?

I’ve been putting off this post for a while.  So many things have been up in the air recently, and I didn’t want to report false information or maybe even get my hopes up.  To put it simply, not much has gone my way the last three years.  Many of you are my good friends and many know me well enough to know that I was a bit of a social guy in Iowa.  You were my best friends, we got Hy-Vee Chinese, we were in a band, we were in a Bible study, we lived together, and in college I had a solid four or five folks I could always count on.  And I knew that when I took the risk moving out here it would take time for things to evolve socially, but things just came a bit harder than expected.  LIFE hit me.  I haven’t really had a good friend for three years.  I sit at home alone for days without having a conversation with someone face to face.  And it’s really hard for me to look back on the last three years and get anything positive from it.  Aside from teaching, I don’t know if I really accomplished much.  I feel like I measure myself in the relationships I have and how I’m impacting lives.  That being said, I’m not feeling the best about my life. 

That is until recent….

Things are lookin’ up.  Some of you know this, but I’ve been seeing an amazing girl for the last ten months. Problem is, she lives in Iowa.  But it’s not going to be a problem much longer, because I’m moving back to the midwest, to the metropolis of Des Moines.  Things are going really well and to see where things go, I just need to be in the same city.  Makes sense, eh?  So, at the end of the school year, I’m packing up, the lady is flying down here, and we’re driving back together.  And I’m so ready to get out of here.  I love the midwest.  I love the seasons.  The people.  The old houses and trees.  And the grass….oh my gosh the grass.  Let’s just say I’m ready for this new beginning.  I’m ready for my life to start meaning something again.  I’m ready…..for Iowa.  And boys, don’t be mad that I’m living in the 515.  You know I bleed 319.

I’m sure you’ve already seen it, but I just have to say: whoever’s been in charge of perfectly matching up Arcade Fire songs with movie trailers, thank you. It’s tough not to believe in this movie now.
