Who are you for?

I don’t think this is the most accurate poll to say which candidate you’re for but it got me thinking. Also, I was convicted by reading some of the questions because I don’t know where I stand/not very informed and educated on it. Get your democratic ball rolling…

Well I dated Amy for a few years in junior high/high school, so, Mit Romney.

I mean…I’ve been watching videos/ debates on these guys since last Spring, trying to get informed, but I still have no idea. I love how Ron Paul stirs up the Republican debates. I don’t know if anyone has watched those but when asked the question (and I’m paraphrasing because I don’t remember the exact question) “Does the president need to go to Congress to get permission before going to war against a country?” a question obviously referencing Iran, Ron Paul was the only one who said yes, you need to go to congress.

In all actually, a lot of the things he believes are a little crazy, but during debates against the other Republican candidates like Guiliani and Romney, he sounds like a god. Haha.

I think the best way to go about finding out who to vote for is just reading there voting records. I have little, to no faith in the govt. right now so reading about what they have actually done is the only thing I can really trust.

Anyways, this was a rant and probably didn’t come out making sense. Several candidates spark interest to me (Kucinich, Paul, Dodd, Obama, Clinton) but I definately haven’t ruled anyone out. I say George Galloway should run (of course…that doesn’t work).

Actually, I was hoping Bush would start a campaign to make a 3rd term ammendment and run again! I mean 24% approval rating isn’t that bad right?

It seems like the best candidates or people are never running. Such is life I guess.

I am leaving this second to drive home to Iowa from Chicago. HOpefully I get to see some of your smiling faces!

  3. Good evening, KeepThisGoing.

Allow me first to apologize for this long post. I do, like many of you, appreciate the comforting routine of shot post on this blog – the security of the familiar, the tranquility of repetition. I enjoy them as much as any blog. But in the spirit of commemoration, thereby those important events of the past usually associated with someone’s death or the end of some awful bloody struggle, a celebration of a nice holiday, I thought we could mark this post, by taking some time out of our daily lives to sit down and have a little chat. There are of course those who do not want us to blog. I suspect even now, orders are being coded across screens, and men with hacking skills are in quite a bind. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, blogging will always retain our power. Blogging offers the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn’t there?

Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and blog as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your posts. How did this happen? Who’s to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you’re looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn’t be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you.

So if you’ve seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you then I would suggest you allow this day to pass unmarked. But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek, then I ask you to blog beside me, and…

    KEEP THIS GOING!!!!!

perhaps I should clarify a little more. If you click on that link above it will take you to this poll where you answer 11 multiple choice questions that don’t provide many great options, then when you’re finished it tells you which 3 candidates fit your responses best.
p.s. – Bryan, since when do you use a word like truncheon in a sentence. What does that even mean?

  5. nealteel says:

    Tom-
I got the same three as you. For republican candidates I used to have strong interest in John McCain and he was actually 5th on my chart.

In all seriousness, I may vote for Stephen Colbert. Not sure if you all heard, but he announced his campaign for presidency the other day. While it may be a joke to some, I believe that his stance on a lot of issues hits close to home.

James, I too have little faith in our government, whether democrats or republicans, I feel that our government is dissipating into this hidden republic. That is what we are, we are not a democracy. A veil has been set over our eyes and we are suckered into believing that America is a superlative Democratic nation. Well boys, we are stuck in the trenches and we have been hit by a truncheon. Not to say that we are not light years closer to a democratic nation than other professed democracies. We just have a lot of work to do. That is why it is important for people like us to educate ourselves and stand up for what you believe (Vote).

    Sorry, I had to vent…

  6. timothyjdodd says:

    wow.. this is surprising…

    I got
    1. Guilliani
    2. Ron Paul
    3. Mitt Romney

I have a conspiracy going that the only reason it picked mitt for me was because it’s my name backwards…

For real, I’m all about fixing our health care and modeling it after Canada’s (think about even how much auto insurance would go down, you realize OVER half of what you pay for auto insurance is medical expenses)

I’m also all about getting out of the war, I think it speaks for itself that NO OTHER countries back us up in the war… That’s the BIGGEST red flag to me. In all other wars when there’s horrible injustice going on, half the world takes place in making sure that injustice is resolved, but in this war, it’s ONLY US.. seems pretty fishy. If you’d spend anytime outside the united states, you’d hear the broadcasts of the rest of the world look down on the US and our attempts at war. The BBC talks regularly about things we don’t hear over here, about the innocent killed, and I heard several interviews when watching tv over seas, and they all question our intent at being at war.

If everyone else seems to think we’re doing something wrong by being at war, maybe we are wrong… Sometimes it takes an outside perspective to really see what’s going on…

    So that’s what I’m into…

like some of you, I’m not as informed as I could be in the “politics” arena.
these were the three I was assigned:

    1. M. Romney
    2. D. Kukinich
    3. D. Hunter

    well, there we go.

  10. Alex Dow says:

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m hoping to reelect Bush. Right?

PS bryan, I was totally feeling the v for vendetta quote. I’ll post something more serious later hopefully.
